This just isn&#8217;t possible. We drink them every day so we can get through our crazy &amp; hectic days.</p>
<p>But if you think about it, do all these drinks really have big effect on our diets?  Let&#8217;s run down the facts, it has come to my attention that a regular bottle of cola can carry as much as 200 calories! This is equivalent to you drinking a cup of water with 13 packets of sugar in it! When you make these claims people say, &#8220;Well…that why there&#8217;s diet soda!&#8221; Wrong! Although diet sodas are low in calories, research has shown that actually drinking these artificially sweetened drinks may lead the person to crave more sweets. The reason behind this is that the sweetener in diet sodas contain the chemical Aspartame. This is the low calorie chemical used to give diet soda their flavor and Aspartame is said to be 180x sweeter than sugar itself. There were also animal research done on this chemical and it&#8217;s shown that high consumption of the sweetener may lead to brain tumors and lymphoma in rodents. I cannot imagine what it can do to us!</p>
<p><span id="more-240"></span>Next are the sports drinks, we all see the Gatorade commercials and they are no joke. They usually have some sexy model of an athlete sweating, running, and working out and by the time they&#8217;re finished they&#8217;re sweating red or blue because of the Gatorade they were drinking. Well the commercial explains it all on who Gatorade is for. It&#8217;s for athletes not for the office worker who sit at the desk with a computer in hand! A typical 16 ounce of Gatorade is said to contain as much as 200 calories. So make sure when you&#8217;re drinking Gatorade, you&#8217;re doing some form of exercise.</p>
<p>Coffee is the next subject. When I mention this people are like wow really…coffee? Well not a regular cup of joe per say, but what I&#8217;m talking about is the melted milk shakes they call coffee. Okay, when you do go to a coffee shop what do you usually get? A Frappuccino double shot? A Cappuccino? A macchiato? You get my point? Yes these drinks with the domes can contains as much as 400 calories! 400….these contain more calories than a can of soda! Most of the calories come from the fat and sugar making up the drink and don&#8217;t forget you have to have breakfast too. Depending on a breakfast sandwich in one morning you can expect to get about 700-800 calories.</p>
<p>In conclusion, I&#8217;m not saying to stop drinking your favorite drinks. I&#8217;m only saying to do it in modesty, because most Americans drink these everyday! If you can cut some of these sugary drinks out of you life you could cut extra 450 calories! That is nearly one pound of fat loss in just one week. So remember to watch what you drink and read the labels. When you do think it’s a bad idea just drink water since it contains 0 calories and it&#8217;s always a good idea to stay hydrated.</p>

Because dieting is not about what we eat, it is about why we eat! Diets typically fail to recognize that food is the world&#8217;s most addictive substance! Craving for food is much more powerful than craving for nicotine, alcohol and other substances.</p>
<p><span id="more-211"></span>But unlike every other addictive substance food is critically different in one way &#8211; it is a human need. We must have it to survive. Alcohol, nicotine and other substances of addiction can be hard enough to give up or manage &#8211; and they are nowhere near as important to us as food is! Is it really any wonder that dieting has such a high failure rate? As smokers in the western world have given up over the last couple of decades, overeating has really taken off!</p>
<p>When we accept that food is a highly addictive substance and start to tackle it from this perspective, we begin to take control of it. Ignore its habit-forming potential and we are powerless to control it.</p>
<p>Very few <strong>weight loss programs</strong> fully appreciate the addictive quality of food and even fewer deal with it &#8211; primarily because they simply don&#8217;t know how to. Very few <strong>diet program</strong> planners are qualified in both human psychology and human physiology. It is deadly simple and much easier to tell people what they should eat with the latest and greatest diet.</p>
<p>Trouble is, this focus on what to eat is largely irrelevant; I don&#8217;t think I have met an overweight person who did not know what they should eat and what they shouldn&#8217;t eat!</p>
<p>Getting people excited &#8211; and motivated &#8211; about a new diet is easy;  people want to believe in a new quick and easy solution, but this motivation only works for the short term. The enticement of a quick and easy solution is the real life version of the story of the drunk looking under the streetlight for his house keys.</p>
<p>As the story goes, a man out for a late night stroll comes across the hapless fellow and helps him search. After spending some time helping the drunk without any sign of the keys, he ventured the question &#8216;Are you sure you dropped them around here?&#8217; &#8216;Oh no&#8217;, replied the drunk, T dropped them over there in the shadows, but it&#8217;s too dark to find them there.&#8217;</p>
<p>The best way to develop a new eating lifestyle  is to involve the others with whom you share your refrigerator so that you create a sub-culture that makes it easier for everyone in it to eat in way that keeps everyone slim.</p>
<p>Perhaps our greatest responsibility, however, is to the next generation. Rates of <strong>obesity in children</strong> have doubled. Those of us who are parents must make it easier for our children to manage their weight by making healthy eating an automatic lifestyle for them from a young age. In this way &#8211; by the time they are making their own food choices, healthy eating will be a deeply entrenched habit.</p>

Obesity is simply defined as a condition of being overweight. It means that excessive amounts of fat are accumulated in your body, which results in the excess body weight. A healthy person’s weight must be in proportion with his or her height, which means within the body mass index (BMI). The ideal BMI is within 18.5 to 24.9. So, in clinical terms Body mass index of 30 and above is defined as obesity.</p>
<p><span id="more-30"></span>Obesity has bad effects on the general health and lifestyle of an individual. People who are overweight become very inactive as they find it hard to participate in great number of daily activities. They cannot move easily, they are always tired and they risk of becoming sick with different kinds of illnesses ranging from cardiovascular, cancer, diabetes, and many others.</p>
<p><strong>Causes of Obesity</strong></p>
<p>It is already known that most common reasons for obesity can be sedentary lifestyle, high intake of calories and even scientific reasons (such as psychiatric, medical and genetic causes). As it was mentioned above, a sedentary and inactive lifestyle is the first on the list of causes of obesity. A person finds it difficult to exercise or take up some sport, which gradually has negative influence on his weight making him obese.</p>
<p>Another cause of obesity is genetics or heredity. It has been found out that the gene for obesity has been passed on from generation to generation. Hence, the children are found to show a tendency for obesity in families where parents are found to be obese. People who are afflicted with genetic factors for obesity have a lot of difficulty with losing weight in the long term.<br />
Furthermore, some psychological problems can cause obesity. It means that people tend to overeat when they are sad, disturbed, angry, even bored with something which, as a consequence, leads to obesity. Also, some diseases and conditions like Cushing&#8217;s syndrome, Hypothyroidism, Depression, and certain neurological problems cause overeating which in turn leads to the accumulation of excessive fat in the organism.</p>
<p>But, the most common reason why people overeat is that they don’t actually have enough time to eat healthy food as they are overloaded with many duties. Chaotic schedules have contributed to the consumption of fast and processed food, which, on one hand, lacks in vitamins and minerals and, on the other, has a high amount of calories.</p>
<p><strong>So, how can an individual get rid of obesity?</strong></p>
<p>Obese people think that they will be fat forever and that they will never lose weight. Of course this is not true, and the solution does exist. You can easily cure obesity if you are disciplined, have a strong will, and if you stick to the rules which you must follow when you decide to go on a diet. The most important thing is to recognize the problem and then visit your doctor who will give you professional advice regarding your obesity issue.</p>
<p>Luckily, there is a wide range of weight loss programs today, which give excellent results. Or you can even choose some other methods that suit your needs, among which some can be very extreme such as obesity surgery or intake of anti-obesity drugs.</p>
